A Gospel for Today
From the Urantia Book Fellowship Mini-Messenger
The Son of Man: Urantia Project is my effort to follow the Urantia revelation’s charge to restate the gospel of Jesus for today’s people and work to bring forth the kingdom of heaven on Earth. We are told the most important knowledge a person can acquire in this life is that of Jesus’ life and teachings, and I agree: as a matter of fact, in today’s world the only thing I trust is my inner guidance validated by my experiential knowing of God’s divine love, mercy, and forgiveness. My prayer is that I can become a bit more like Jesus instead of John the Baptist in the work (please, God!).
I was, and this is the first time these thoughts have become clear much less expressed, in a way prepared for this duty, or rather this honor. My father died in 1971 when I was 12 ½ years old. He was just last year inscribed on the Viet Nam Veterans’ Memorial Wall: MSgt Charles Allen Kezer, USAF Pararescue. He was my hero, we were “special”, and my family—specifically the relationship with my mom and dad molded thorough continually moving from one place in the world to another—was all I knew: after dad died my life’s course was thrown off track, and I was pretty much socially, mentally, emotionally, and in all ways spiritually destroyed. On his death bed my final instructions were to take care of my mother and my two kid brothers, a charge my mom felt was wrong to place on me at my age. But for me it was all I had to hold on to, and as poorly as I met the task, I embodied it and the need to do so still dominates my life today. So, for me the concept of the father-son relationship, the brotherhood of humanity, and the need to serve others whether we want to or not is by now natural and accepted: I know no other way. The Pararescue man’s motto, by the way, is, “That Others May Live.” That, in the eternal sense, is also the goal for the Son of Man: Urantia Project.
There are no leaders in this effort, just workers. Our boss is Jesus, our playbook has already been given to us, and our chain of command is direct to the joint presence of our thought adjuster and Jesus’ Spirit of Truth inside each of us. I took on the task of restating part four of the revelation for today’s world so it is accessible to more people, and to give kingdom workers another tool in their efforts to spread the gospel.
Now that the book, Son of Man: Urantia is published I am working on breaking it down into bite sized chunks in video and podcast, and I am putting it out to the world on Substack, YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook. So far it has been a lot of sowing seeds and praying for a good harvest in the future.
I live in Ecuador with the woman I might marry when we can afford to do so. Life revolves around this project, supporting two of her adult children until we somehow get them on track in this world (a much different process than in the States), and enjoying the fourteen animals we have found abandoned over the years: four dogs and ten cats. None of them were planned, by the way, they just kind of happened.
We are told to always pray for more kingdom workers. Please download a copy of Son of Man: Urantia to see if it meets your needs, and then use it and the other tools at the Son of Man: Urantia Project Substack page to help others find their way to God and service to humanity in the kingdom of heaven. And no worries: you will learn by doing, grow in righteousness though the process, and ease any frustration you may have from feeling helpless in a world gone bad.
Godspeed,
Bob
