Adapted from the Urantia Book original paper, here.
1. Jesus took 4 years to prepare his family so he could leave. When he was 27 years old, he visited his dad’s friend, Zebedee, in Capernaum. Jesus agreed to stay with Zebedee and help him design a new style of fishing boat. Their boat became a success with the fishermen.
2. Jesus was now a resident of Capernaum. In the evenings, he’d teach people about things like science and politics and philosophy. Here, the workers first called him the Master. Afterwards, he’d study in the library. He returned to Nazareth in October for Martha’s wedding.
3. When he was 28 years old, Jesus left his money with Zebedee, and went to Jerusalem. Zebedee used his money to buy a house, and use that rent for Jesus’ family. In Jerusalem Jesus met the once high priest, Annas, who was a relative of Zebedee’s wife, Salome.
4. At Passover, Jesus met a man and his son from India. They were going to Rome and other places for 2 years. They hired Jesus to be their translator and to tutor the boy. Jesus only told Zebedee he was going on this trip, and he told Zebedee to never tell anyone, which he didn’t.
5. Jesus was here to better know us, and to reveal our heavenly Father to us and the rest of universe. He had to do this as one of us. He knew all types of people, and understood all our levels of maturity. He also knew without a doubt that he was a Creator Son.
6. We’re to learn from Jesus’ life, but not copy it. He taught us to follow how he opened himself to his Thought Adjuster for guidance, not to try and live our lives as he lived his. His example was the new and living way of the mortal to become eternal.
7. Those are the highlights of Son of Man: Urantia, Chapter 8, “The Later Adult Life of Jesus.” This week is Chapter 9, “On the Way to Rome.” Enjoy, my friends, and have a super week out there.
