Adapted from the Urantia Book original paper here
1. Jesus returned to Nazareth. He was thirty years old and transitioning from being God appearing as man, to man appearing as God. The conductor of a caravan got sick, and Jesus volunteered to take his place leaving for a year-long trip to the Caspian Sea.
2. At Lake Urmia, Jesus met Cymboyton. He had built a large school dedicated to studying the various cults and religions that believed in one supreme deity. Jesus agreed to return and give twenty-four lectures on the kingdom of God and the kingdoms of men.
3. The authors of the Urantia revelation were unsure about including these lectures. The social and political scene is much different now, than then. I encourage everyone to read the original version. I’m only presenting the basics of what they wrote to not bias the material with my beliefs.
4. The brotherhood of man is founded on the Fatherhood of God. All people are spiritually equal. There are no chosen people, or any group or religion that holds divine favor over others.
5. The idea of personal freedom can only exist with laws. The only way groups of people who want the same degree of freedom can exist in peace, is when they all place themselves subservient to the laws allowing their mutual freedom to exist.
6. For there to be peace among us, all people and all religious groups must surrender themselves to one overarching superhuman level of authority, God, and accept equality between ourselves in all spiritual matters and beliefs under that supreme power. Until that happens, we’ll continue to have religious wars on Earth.
7. Equality among humanity can only bring peace when everyone recognizes the absolute overcontrolling influence of an ultimate spiritual power: God our Father binding us together in brotherhood through his Spirit presence inside of us. When people and religions recognize and agree to the ultimate spiritual authority of God, we can find peace on Earth.
8. There are only two levels of ultimate authority on an inhabited world: the spiritual free will of the individual, and the collective will of all of humanity. Every other level of authority in between the person and the entirety of humanity’s collective will is relative, and should only exist as long as it enhances the welfare and progress of the people and the planet.
9. Humanity as a whole has the right to say how life is conducted on the planet: The Earth is ours to use and share in peace while we meet our responsibility to preserve and enhance it for the next generations to come. Humanity has the right to say how businesses and governments conduct their affairs on our behalf. We were not born to serve governments: they were created to serve us.
10. Jesus went up Mount Hermon by himself for six weeks. He communed with his Father, achieved perfection of oneness with his Thought Adjuster, and after five weeks asked God to bring forth his archenemies that were contesting his rule. As a man with no divine power Jesus defeated Satan, who was representing Lucifer, and our Planetary Prince, Caligastia.
11. This time on Mount Hermon completed Jesus’ task of living the full mortal life in the flesh, and gained Michael of Nebadon unquestioned ultimate authority over his universe. The Lucifer rebellion in Satania and Caligastia’s secession on Earth were settled, and Jesus was ready to return to his Father’s business.
12. Jesus returned to Capernaum and worked in Zebedee’s wood shop as he waited for his time to come. People started to hear about a man named John preaching the word of God and baptizing people down in the Jordan River. This man was proclaiming that the “The kingdom of heaven is at hand; repent and be baptized.”
13. Jesus was soon to present himself to John for baptism, and begin his mission as the Son of God. He had changed much throughout the years as the Son of Man, and few of the people with whom he had spoken with in private recognized the Son of God in his role as the later public teacher.
Okay, folks, that’s it for the Highlights of Son of Man: Urantia, Chapter 13, “The Transition Years.”
This week’s Chapter 14, part 1, is titled, “John the Baptist.”
Have a fantastic week out there everyone.
